Amen Point

Following up what I mentioned in the Design text this is a homage to our group designs we created several years ago. The majority of the objects used in this course were originally designed for Links course’s. I will try to acknowledge the events and individuals who helped us gather them.

The original creators of the objects were a group calling themselves the AUS XPACK TEAM. AUS standing for Australian Unique Stuff. The list on the team is too long to mention but Daniel Watson who masked the objects for the team made them available to us through Charlie Roberts.

Once in our hands as .tga and .jpg files Galen Geier and myself converted them to .pcx for use in our course’s. Since then all of the files have been loaded at ‘The Den’ for all to use.

I also used a brown grass and cattail object that was borrowed from Bob ‘Birdie Bob’ Cummings with his permission. Sounds used on my course’s usually come from Chad ‘Fish’ Derouin. The textures were created for Chambers Bay except for one or two and I think they are my best texture work to date. The background and sky are a one piece horizon created specifically for this course. The rest of the objects are either new for Amen Point or created for some of my earlier designs. I again worked outside my comfort zone in an attempt to change the style of my designs. I am pleased with the wide open, almost panoramic view you have for just about every shot on the course. I find it to be both a fun and challenging round and the sounds and scenery add to the ambience. Thank You for downloading Amen Point and I hope you get some enjoyable and memorable rounds for your effort. I strongly encourage you to use all the tees so you can see the entire course as it was designed.

Arrow Head

The Design

I consider Arrow Head as one of my better designs. The layout is extensive and the use of underbrush was extremely time consuming but the overall effect was certainly worth it. The most unique aspect of the design is probably the bunkering which is totally unconventional but worked wonderfully on this course. Many of the bunkers took as many as six different textures and no two are alike. The use of grasses and bushes on their borders added to the look and feel of the course as well.

The Layout

With the normal mix of doglegs and water holes the layout besides the bunkering is quite normal. Most greens are above average size with the exception of hole 2 which uses a very small green but it fit the lay and approach of the hole. It's the look of the course with the undergrowth of bush and grasses and the bunkering that makes it seem different and unique.

Acknowledgements

I would like to thank Randy Grant, Brad 'The Dad' Lanagan and Dave 'Snuffy' Smith for playtesting Arrow Head for me.

Thank You for downloading Arrow Head and remember, swing easy and keep your head down!
